I've taught yoga in Bali for eight years, and I still believe nothing changes a practice faster than a private class. I hold a 500-hour YTT and have guided several thousand one-on-one sessions, and the pattern is always the same: in a group class you copy the room; in a private class the practice is built around you — your shoulders, your sleep, your jet lag, your goals for the week you're on the island.
A typical first session starts with ten minutes of conversation and gentle movement so I can see how your body actually moves, not how you think it moves. From there I build the class live: maybe a slow, alignment-heavy standing sequence, maybe a stronger flow, maybe mostly floor work for a stiff lower back. You'll never be rushed past something your body isn't ready for, and you'll never be bored by something too easy.
What to Expect
- Before the class: a short WhatsApp chat about your level, injuries and goals, so the right teacher arrives with the right plan.
- The class itself: 60, 75 or 90 minutes fully adapted to you — asana, alignment corrections with hands-on adjustments (only if you want them), breathwork and a proper savasana.
- After: two or three things to practise on your own, plus honest advice on what your body needs next — more strength, more mobility or simply more rest.
If you'd rather practise with your partner or friends, a couples and small-group class is usually the better-value option. Complete beginners often start with the structured 5-class beginner course instead.

How Home Classes Work
You need surprisingly little space — about 2 x 3 metres of reasonably flat floor per person. Poolside decks at sunrise are the most popular spot, but living rooms, rooftops and garden lawns all work; if it rains we simply move under cover. The teacher arrives ten minutes early to set up mats and props, and everything is packed away and wiped down afterwards. Most guests book the Sunrise (06:00–08:00) or Sunset (17:00–19:00) slots — book a day ahead on WhatsApp to secure them.
